Sunrise, Sunset...

Our country is protected by brave men and women serving in the armed services, many of whom have given their lives. We rise in the morning to our coffee and tuck our children in at night not giving thought to the safety their service provide. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. Many of us remember the passing of all loved ones on this day; however the traditional observance has been lost through the years. Today and every day, let us not ignore the neglected gravesides or take for granted the flag they so proudly gave their lives to serve. And perhaps today we should say an additional prayer for the police, firefighter and all those who protect us from sunrise to sunset. Thank you Daddy, Barnie, Frank, Jordan and all who protect and serve...peace be with you.

Beneath the Sunlit Sky...

Words to dream of in this part of the country. Just where is the sun? It seems as though this Spring has been filled with days and days of rain...one doesn't dare to count how many. So much rain, it's difficult to sleep for worry of water in the basement. Thankfully, we have been fortunate in that respect and typically we don't have flooding like so many others experience. I do however wonder if I will ever see my garden path again. All the rain and clouds does make for a lovely moss. And the rose does "pop" in the clouds. Is that a tear for sun? Well one thing is certain...rainy days are good stitching days. It is nice to have another "finish", although I'm not sure whose initials to stitch on this piece. Alma, of Blackbird Designs, has a nice explanation with the pattern as to why she chose to use her husband's and her own initials. While taking a break for a fun day, my "jewel" of a friend and I came across a creek with the m...

Finding joy...

I've found, doesn't have to be that difficult. Yet, here it is a week into May and I've been so busy, I feel a little grumpy. What? No, that cannot be! I'm going to slow down, relax and remember all the wonderful things that have given me joy this first part of May. "Garden shopping" with a friend. No, this is not my garden...heavens, I wish it were! It's that of Steve Hess of From the Summer's Garden. He makes and sells the most wonderful garden accessories and stones. With all the rain we've had this season, the hosta are crowding out most of the weeds. Now that's a joy! Oh joy, the fairies are arriving! I think it is safe to say I've been busy in the garden...not to mention, attending a concert with the "jewel", birthday dinner with son and his family (and of course, my sweetie), lots of hugs from the little students and an overnight with the grandgirls. My goodness there is certainly no room for the grumps!! May you find joy ...
