Ending and beginning. . .

Each new year fills my heart with reflections on the old and expectations for the new.  While taking down the tree this morning, thoughts of  "Will I always put up a tree?" came to mind.  How could I not?  Each ornament has its own story to tell.

Even Annie was a little sad to see the tree go. . .

However, starting the new year stitching was a perfect way to bring in 2012.  Thank you Beth (Heartstring Samplery) for providing this lovely little chart

Will you make new memories and remember the old?

What a great piece for a New Year's start! Yes, it is a bit sad to see the tree go, isn't it? I don't think Mia was sad though, just discombobulated by all the activity. lol!

Sweet piece for your New Year start. It's bittersweet taking the decorations down... but I'm also joyful over the brand New Year ahead of us and all the possibilities.

Oh that's such a nice piece to start the New Year.

In the UK it is considered unlucky to take your decorations down until the 5th so I have left one tree up and packed away the others.

The house looks a bit bare but at least I could have a good dust and polish.

I like the sampler to the left of your tree. I couldn't make out how it is displayed. Is it on a frame stand?
My mom and I was just talking about her puting up a tree next year.. lol She was just wanting to do a tabletop this year.. I kind of talk into the big tree. I guess I will let her decide next year.. It is hard for me to let her decide.. I like that big tree... lol Great Start for 2012!

Sweet new start!!! I am a bit of a Scrooge and by the time Christmas is over I am ready to get rid of the tree. I do enjoy it while it's up I just get tired of cleaning around it, LOL.

Beautiful choice for a new start! I hate to see the tree go as well. I love the lights and all the ornaments. The house seems so empty without it. But I do love the quiet and peacefulness of January.

I'm with you, Joy...a tree with treasured ornaments is something I hope to do for years to come. I get nostalgic when I pack the ornaments away, but before long excitement about the new year takes over.

I love the holiday season, but look at the new year as a great big clean slate ready to be filled and that makes me excited. Like your sweet Annie, I know my cats will miss the tree. :)
Your new start looks like it's going to be pretty.

Great idea for a new start! I need to stitch it, too.

I have often thought of doing a scrapbook with pictures of each ornament and tell its story--something for the kids and grandkids to treasure in future years.

Bowled over...

With the thought anyone would stitch a design over and over...let alone seven times!  This is not my stitching and I normally don't share the stitching of others.  Although, I did finish the witch seven times.  No, I won't stitch a bowl of wee witches, but I would stitch more than one if I knew who the designer was. Do you stitch a design more than once?

What to do. . .

Blog, stitch, finish work?  I have no idea where to start. My world is spinning with change.  Trying to keep up and not knowing where to start.  Turning the page of the calendar was an eye-opener for sure.  2018. . .really?  Where did 2017 go, not to mention the last 3 years?! Life is what you make it and I'm going for love, joy and kindness.  Hopefully, that will include saying hello on occasion to my blog friends. How about you?  What are your plans for 2018?
