Deviation...

From correctness or accuracy not your forte? Then Elizabeth Savilles may not be for you. With numerous chart pages, fabric and thread colors with little to no contrast, to unfinished flowers; Elizabeth could be considered a "mistake" all around. Charted from an original sampler, dated 1841, she was more likely reproduced in her current condition. Never the less, she was not a mistake to finish, and... We all show a little wear through the years, right?

How to stay cool...

Alter pattern of exercise... Really, who exercises in this weather? Wear loose-fitting clothes, preferably 100% cotton... Why wear clothes? Keep a spray bottle of water in refrigerator and use on your face after being outdoors... Do I need to go outdoors? Use fans with central air... Why not...a/c bill will be high anyway? Store lotions in refrigerator to use on hot feet... Isn't this border-line freaky? Keep plastic bottles of water in freezer, grab one when you go outside... I'm not going outside! Drink plenty of water... In my coffee count? Eat lighter "summer fare"... Will he understand this when he asks, "What's for dinner?" Avoid caffeine and alcohol... Oops...see drink plenty of water. Use common sense... The prior hint must not apply to me. Just how do fairies, and you, keep cool?

JPPRPP...

Plant, a gift from a friend, came to live with me a while back. What a scary thought. Give me a plant? Did she not hear me say Annie kitty might chew on it? Did she not see the fear in my eyes? Did she not know it was only a matter of time before I would kill it?! Bloom? Oh gosh, NO, not in my hands. Well, surprise, surprise and so the story goes... "The plant came from my parents' neighbor Margaret Powell. I got it when Margaret's electric stove was down to one burner and I had an "extra" stove in the garage. My sister and brother-in-law hauled the stove up to Margaret. Margaret wanted to pay for the stove, but I wasn't interested. We eventually bargained stove for plants. The plant in question was a plant that Margaret's husband John had brought to her. John had seen the plant in Puerto Rico when he was there during WWII. He thought that Margaret would love the plant. Since it was illegal to remove plants from the isla...

To fill one's heart...

With memories is always a treasure and this Fourth of July was no exception. We started the day at the pool...no you will never see those pictures. And after a couple of hours, headed to the grandgirls' home. They both assured me they will never be too old for holiday goodies... Or socks that come in the gift. Why the sad face? "Isn't there any more fireworks?" Being eight can be rough even on holidays. Dinner was not formal by any means, however according to the youngest grandgirl, we did need an invitation to actually get dinner! After dinner we loaded the car with blankets, popcorn, playing cards and Papa. After 30 years of Papa working on holidays, we were excited to have him join us... For beautiful fireworks! Don't you just love a heart full of memories?

Freedom...

Is selfless. Freedom is what we should do not what we want to do. Freedom is a brave heart. Thank you brave hearts for protecting our Freedom on this Fourth and every day.
