Yes...

Change is inevitable, this I know to be true.  A little less than a year ago, I spoke of the change in my life.  And since then, there has been much.  Sadly, my husband died (Don't be afraid to use that word.) on July 7 of this year.  A tragic fall ended our struggle with dementia.  Life will never be the same; however, I am happy to have had over 32 years with a kind, loving man.  I owe it to his legacy to continue the kindness he shared with many and live life to the fullest.  He did and would want me to go out and live.

On the advice of a good friend, I hope to get back into blogging.  I hope to share my life as a caregiver, grandmother, stitcher and finisher.  Finely Finished  is growing along with the grands, one of which is driving.   Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram, along with other social media, seem to have taken over blogging for many.  Let's slow down and share.

Opening myself here, I welcome any comments or questions.  Don't be afraid to ask.

Be happy, life changes quickly.

How do you live with change?

I am so sorry to read this. Caregiving, especially with dementia, is so difficult. I am glad that you will return to blogging and other interests. After the grief, the mourning process helps us adapt to the loss while accepting the changes. Wishing you peace during this difficult time.
Joy, I am truly sorry to read of your husband's passing. Sending gentle hugs your way. Treasure the memories and the peace you find in them. Thinking of you!

Joy, I am so sorry for your loss. A friend of mine lost her husband last year to cancer. She's still trying to cope with it (or not). I hope you are being surrounded with lots of loved ones.

I haven't been stitching for sometime but I have taken up sewing (clothes) and having a blast. I'm not on FB or anything else; I do have a sewing blog.

Sending you hugs!

I have often wondered how things were going with you -- every time I saw one of your posts on instagram I would wonder too. I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's death. I hope that you are doing well. I'm glad to hear you are planning on picking up blogging again. I keep going with mine, despite the decline in readers -- both because of the decline in blogging and because I'm knitting instead of stitching now! Anyway, take care, and know I've been thinking of you.

I know this struggle with your husband's dementia took so much out of you, Joy, as I saw that with my mother taking care of my dad who suffered from Lewy Body Dementia. You just never know what it truly is like until you care for a family member who is suffering with it.

I hope your adjustment to life without your dear husband goes smoothly. Try to remember the pre-dementia days and smile at the memories. The farther away I get from my dad's death in October 2014, the more and more I am remembering him as a whole, loving person again and it's wonderful!

Take care now, Joy...

I'm so sorry to read this news. Loss and change is very hard. I recently lost my dad to dementia at the end of August and as much as I would like to spring back into the swing of things, I just do one day at a time. Some days are better than others and you need to find things that make you happy...stitching, walks, music, reading. This year has been full of big things for me. New job, dad passed away, turned 40 and got engaged. I keep thinking about how my dad won't walk me down the aisle or dance with me at my wedding. But one day at a time...focus on your bits of joy. Hugs to you!

I wouldn't presume to give any advice, but please know you are not alone. Many of us are thinking about you!

Bowled over...

With the thought anyone would stitch a design over and over...let alone seven times!  This is not my stitching and I normally don't share the stitching of others.  Although, I did finish the witch seven times.  No, I won't stitch a bowl of wee witches, but I would stitch more than one if I knew who the designer was. Do you stitch a design more than once?

What to do. . .

Blog, stitch, finish work?  I have no idea where to start. My world is spinning with change.  Trying to keep up and not knowing where to start.  Turning the page of the calendar was an eye-opener for sure.  2018. . .really?  Where did 2017 go, not to mention the last 3 years?! Life is what you make it and I'm going for love, joy and kindness.  Hopefully, that will include saying hello on occasion to my blog friends. How about you?  What are your plans for 2018?
