Do not try this at home...

After stitching my first reproduction sampler, "Lucy Redd" by Homespun Elegance, I was anxious to have it framed and hung for stitch night. Having spent hours on the stitching, it just needed to be hung on the mantle and, yes...props were used...you know, just like the pattern. Settling down to stitch, someone says, "Do you smell something?". Oh my gosh, yes! Hard to believe, and a tad difficult to admit, the frame on the newly stitched sampler was burning from the displayed candle! You know, I'm all for ageing my work, but this had gone too far. Thank goodness there were friends around...I can only imagine what could have happened.

Yes, I still burn candles...every day...but with much care and away from the samplers. LOL
Lesson learned...age sampler not frame.

It's a lovely sampler, Joy! Thank goodness, someone smelled the frame burning! Good lesson learned without much damage!

WOW...it is good that someone paid attention! The sampler is so lovely, it would be ashamed to have it ruined. So happy I stopped by.....

Bowled over...

With the thought anyone would stitch a design over and over...let alone seven times!  This is not my stitching and I normally don't share the stitching of others.  Although, I did finish the witch seven times.  No, I won't stitch a bowl of wee witches, but I would stitch more than one if I knew who the designer was. Do you stitch a design more than once?

Ending and beginning. . .

Each new year fills my heart with reflections on the old and expectations for the new.  While taking down the tree this morning, thoughts of  "Will I always put up a tree?" came to mind.  How could I not?  Each ornament has its own story to tell. Even Annie was a little sad to see the tree go. . . However, starting the new year stitching was a perfect way to bring in 2012.  Thank you Beth ( Heartstring Samplery ) for providing this lovely little chart .  Will you make new memories and remember the old?
