Deviation...

From correctness or accuracy not your forte? Then Elizabeth Savilles may not be for you. With numerous chart pages, fabric and thread colors with little to no contrast, to unfinished flowers; Elizabeth could be considered a "mistake" all around. Charted from an original sampler, dated 1841, she was more likely reproduced in her current condition. Never the less, she was not a mistake to finish, and...

We all show a little wear through the years, right?

Lovely! Save that taped together chart... someone you know might want to use it instead of her chart. ;)

Good for you for getting her finished (or as finished as she will ever look!). I now have this as one on my "challenge" list! You persevered, right? She's very pretty indeed!

beautiful! This one is on my list, but I may have to finish a flower or two...but she is a beaut!
I think your new finish is beautiful... The mistakes make it charming....
Great job, Nancy

Wow, I never knew she was "unfinished" like that. Maybe the original sampler had some thread loss and whoever recharted just left it like that? It would probably drive me nuts to stitch. But you did a good job of it, my friend. She's lovely :)

She is beautiful for all the grief that she may have caused you. I'm glad that you didn't stop her because she may have some unfinished parts. She's just lovely.

Beautiful sampler, and thanks for the warning. I'm still not up to what I consider tedious stitching. It's all part of reproduction samplers, but some of us stitch wimps can't handle it!

You h ave done a beautiful job of finishing "Elizabeth Savilles". Perhaps Elizabeth was someone just like us, whose life was interrupted by an unforseen circumstance that caused her to put away this piece, and it was long forgotten, and therefore unfinished. It is all part of the sweet mystery of re-creating this heirloom sampler, and you have mastered it!

She was definitely worth the grief--she is BEAUTIFUL!! Great job on the finish. I love having little fun bits like that on samplers because it freaks people (and sometimes me) out. There's a very light motif on Sarah Tatum & when I was showing my mother my newly framed sampler, she said, "Oh, you didn't finish it.". I nearly dropped the entire thing in my panic till I realized what she meant. LOL I think your Liz looks charming. Great job!

Now, what's next?!?

Bowled over...

With the thought anyone would stitch a design over and over...let alone seven times!  This is not my stitching and I normally don't share the stitching of others.  Although, I did finish the witch seven times.  No, I won't stitch a bowl of wee witches, but I would stitch more than one if I knew who the designer was. Do you stitch a design more than once?

Ending and beginning. . .

Each new year fills my heart with reflections on the old and expectations for the new.  While taking down the tree this morning, thoughts of  "Will I always put up a tree?" came to mind.  How could I not?  Each ornament has its own story to tell. Even Annie was a little sad to see the tree go. . . However, starting the new year stitching was a perfect way to bring in 2012.  Thank you Beth ( Heartstring Samplery ) for providing this lovely little chart .  Will you make new memories and remember the old?
