Hard to believe...

That Thanksgiving has come and gone and the flurry of the Christmas holiday begins. Yet before turkey, we had a birthday dinner party two days before. At the request of the birthday boy, we had cheese cake. No surprise, since it's been that way for at least the past twenty years! Tradition, one would say. However, this year was almost disastrous. I cannot remember ever having a failed cheese cake, not so this birthday. After many tears and a trip to the grocery store, another one was baked and it was delicious! A sweet little tradition was started with the scrabble pieces. Every one took turns thinking of words with the Happy Birthday letters. Oh my, the words and fun.
Thanksgiving was wonderful...easy for me to say, I just fixed a cranberry salad and spent the day with a nice glass of wine or two. Lucky me. Yes, lucky me...the teen grandgirl spent the night and helped set up the tree. Another tradition that is so loved!
I hope to concentrate on the "Traditions" rather than the "so much to do" this year. Thank you to those of you that drop by and leave a comment....they're always appreciated. Now I have two questions for you...

What are your Holiday Traditions and are you addicted to Pinterest too? Gosh, could I call that a Tradition?

I'm glad the cheesecake worked out in the end. Whew! Happy belated birthday to the birthday boy. I think our biggest tradition is going out to get the Christmas tree from a tree farm up north. We get it home and decorate it immediately. And order Domino's pizza to munch on while we decorate. lol! Fingers crossed Mia lets us have a pretty tree this year!

Gee, holiday traditons have changed for us these past 7 years. We are living far away from family and we just have very quiet relaxing time. I started an Christmas Open House here at our condo group. We did go for a hike one Christmas day...we visit the beautiful hotels to see the spectacular decorations. And we now have artificial trees. I have just begun with Pinterest...not sure what I am doing there!

Lovely photos Joy!

It's early, and I'm still drinking my coffee, but two traditions we have/had are we always open our gifts on Christmas Eve, and an ornament was purchased each year for our daughters who are now all adults. They have a collection for their own Christmas trees now from the year they were born.

Enjoy your weekend!

We make cottage cheese pierogis and have them with smelts on Christmas Eve. Pinterest....I need to learn how to narrow a general search - if that makes sense!

I had a cheesecake near-disaster this year, too. I mashed and melded my springform pan back into shape, as I had to do in September which is when I last made a cheesecake. As I was putting the pan into the oven--thankfully filled with just the base, to set it--the bottom fell out. I wanted to scream. I was able to redo it and just made two tin foil pie pans out of it--and sent one off to college with DD for her to share with roommates! Oy!

I like the idea of focusing on traditions--I need to remember that.
