I did it...

Yes, I actually started and finished a small sampler this year!

While browsing through blogs one day, I found this lovely design by Beth Twist of Heartstring Primitives. Not only did she provide the design with suggested colors, she gave it to us. Yes, free..no charge. Have you noticed how many designers are doing that these days? I know, many have done so in the past, but with these busy times, it's nice they still do so.
I actually started "A Brave New Year" on New Year's day with a dear friend...thanks "soul sister". Great tradition don't you think? And I counted the last stitch yesterday, the 10th.

I chose 32ct R&R Golden Walnut linen and used DMC 644, 939, 3011, 3045, 3371 and 3857. While rummaging through my stash of frames, I found this frame purchased at a tag sale for 25 cents! Can you believe it? Although not a perfect fit, I'm pleased with the way the color on the frame looks with DMC 939. I chose the words "trust" and "peace" as I believe it takes trust to believe there will be peace in our hearts...thus the heart.
Thank you to all of you who design such wonderful work!

I just discovered your blog and absolutely love all yor stitching!! I, too, love to cross stitch but am nursing two painful shoulders so am not getting any done. You have inspired me to get going in spite of the pain. I do not have a blog myself but will put you on my favorites list. Judy at profjc@aol.com

Bowled over...

With the thought anyone would stitch a design over and over...let alone seven times!  This is not my stitching and I normally don't share the stitching of others.  Although, I did finish the witch seven times.  No, I won't stitch a bowl of wee witches, but I would stitch more than one if I knew who the designer was. Do you stitch a design more than once?

Ending and beginning. . .

Each new year fills my heart with reflections on the old and expectations for the new.  While taking down the tree this morning, thoughts of  "Will I always put up a tree?" came to mind.  How could I not?  Each ornament has its own story to tell. Even Annie was a little sad to see the tree go. . . However, starting the new year stitching was a perfect way to bring in 2012.  Thank you Beth ( Heartstring Samplery ) for providing this lovely little chart .  Will you make new memories and remember the old?
